The Social Media Bible

This book will show you how to transform your organization into a social enterprise. Using we-based tools, you will learn how to connect customers, employees, and other stakeholders together to collaborate and champion products, services, and ideas. Part one introduces you to the concept of social media and gives you practical and tactical tools for using these tools. Part two introduces the tools themselves. They are divided into fifteen categories, and presented according to the features and functions that will be most applicable to your social media strategy. Part three offers exercises and tests that will enable you to conduct a social media audit of your organization and teach these tools to the stakeholders who will be best able to use them.

The Living Shore

In 2008, Jacobsen accompanied a group of marine scientists to a remote coastline of British Columbia to hunt for the Olympia oyster. This oyster species one carpeted the shores from California to Alaska, but because of pollution and overharvesting, it is nearly extinct. This book explains how oysters and other shellfish play a key role in coastal ecosystems. They filter water, stabilize shorelines, and provide habits for numerous other species. Few oyster reefs remain, yet this habitat has played such a key role in the development of coastal communities in North America. This book also details some of the restoration and species recovery efforts that are currently underway for oysters and other coastal marine creatures.

This is a survey of innovative products and design strategies that address immediate concerns about global warming and use of environmentally sensitive materials. At the same time, these products also highlight creativity and vision, looking toward a sustainable future where technology and ethics overlap. Many areas of home design are included. Architectural design and interior spaces are recognized. Products and materials used within the home--including textiles and other finishes--are highlighted. Furniture and home goods such as dishes, linens, and other items are featured. Innovative technologies used in the building and operation of the home are also surveyed. Finally, sustainable transportation designs to and from residential and commercial spaces are envisioned. This book offers beautiful images and recognizes the award-winning innovations of many environmentally conscientious designers.
